Its pedimental sculptures were unveiled in 1904, and by 1910 were showing signs of deterioration. The American Stock Exchange Building, formerly known as the New York Curb Exchange Building, is the former headquarters of the American Stock Exchange. It is located on Trinity Place in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City.

Completed in 1903, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is a National Historic Landmark. As weathering and age caused components to deteriorate, NYSE decided that it was time to implement a comprehensive and lasting maintenance and restoration plan for the emblematic building.

The site's Victorian building was demolished in 1901, and on April 22, 1903 the new New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) building at 818 Broad Street opened for business. Prior to 1901 the New York Stock Exchange moved from building to building as the need for more space increased. During the years of 1896 and 1901 volume of stocks traded increased by six times and it was decided that a huge permanent Exchange building was required.
